Three weeks ago I started my sophomore year of college. This year I am dealing with the more technical side of the fashion industry with classes such as Textiles and Product Development. I really love the hard and soft aspects of this set! xoxo

Fashion takes London
The London Olympics closing ceremony was a joy to watch, except for Jessie J butchering We Will Rock You. As a fashion lover, watching some of the best British models strut down the Union jack stage was awesome. Especially since Alexander McQueen was not forgotten among the tribute to England with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell wearing two of his dresses during the David Bowie 'Fashion' segment.

Highlights
This set was inspired by my Olympic viewing experience. I noticed that many of the runners had florescent shoes. I believe that they are the new Nike Flyknits. I also noticed however that during the US vs. Australia men's Quarterfinal that one of the Australians had the same neon basketball sneakers.

Happy Birthday Michael Kors
Happy Birthday to Michael Kors! Your clothing always reminds me of some fabulous yachting getaway. I missed you during Project Runway All Stars, because your Korisms make the show that much better. So it is wonderful to see you again on Project Runway season 10. What is your favorite Michael Kors piece/Korism?

Doe Eyes
Sorry that I have almost taken the whole summer off from blogging. Keeping up with a new job, boyfriend, and kitten has been interesting. I have been buying the same type of shirt over and over. Sleeveless sheer buttondown with collar. This addiction is wonderfully terrible because work has a whole bunch of them. I'll try and post some pics of my new mini collection. This photo is also from the shoot I did with my best friend wearing the Paperself lashes I blogged about here. xoxo Justine

Happy July!
Hello! I know I keep saying I am busy, so I'll just stop with the excuses. I realized I forgot to make a July set until the 4th of July. So here is my little update. In the photo is a picture of my [new] boyfriend and on his lap is Ivy, the stray kitten that I brought home that was sitting on the porch of my boyfriend's house. She is so sweet! I hope your July is happy and healthy!
The dress is Dolce & Gabbana, and the purse is Salvatore Ferragamo!

You are a person, Not a size
Today I wanted to just get out what has been bothering me in the blogging world lately- 'thinspo' blogs. Living a healthy lifestyle of eating nutritious food and daily exercise is fantastic. I will be the first to admit that I don't eat as well or exercise as much as I should. Which is why I am going to start trying to get in better shape when I am not feeling so exhausted from work. A nice diet and exercise, we all know is beneficial to many areas of health. But the thing that really bothers me are that there are these beautiful girls and women who feel the need to starve themselves and overwork their bodies in order to drop all of this weight, usually unnecessarily, in order to feel pretty. I know this is a mental issue, but 'Thinspiration' should not come from tiny models and celebrities, but the want to be healthy. I am glad that some fashion/teen magazines are now starting to not use Photoshop on their images, because media has a tendency to send the wrong messages about beauty and social acceptance. So, today I just wanted to say that you are all beautiful, inside and out. xoxo <3

Impossible Conversations
The Met Costume Institute's Spring 2012 Exhibit, "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" is here! The gala opening for the exhibit was attended by many glamourous celebrities in order to celebrate the work of these two important women in fashion. Beyonce was stunning in her Givenchy gown, and to think she just had a baby! I adore all of the incredible work on Scarlett Johansson's Dolce & Gabbana's gown. I think that Leighton Meester was my favorite however in the gold Marchesa. Cate Blanchett and Florence Welch can do no wrong in Alexander McQueen. I don't think I have to mention all of those who wore Prada!
I have actually had the pleasure of holding a real vintage Schiaparelli hat!
Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms out there! This set is inspired by my mother because her favorite color is green. Sorry I have not been posting as often as I should. I have been so busy with work. xoxo <3

Floral On
I am really in love with this silk floral print Roberto Cavalli blazer. I think it is a perfect piece for spring and summer. The studs on the jean shorts are also interesting to be because it seems that everyone here at my school is obsessed with spikes and studs on their clothing and accessories. xo
Vogue Around the World
Vogue Around the World by colette on polyvore.com
I recently started working on a collection of sets that were inspired by Vogue covers from all of the different Vogue magazines around the world. Some of the ones I have done so far are UK, India, China, Germany, Paris, Italy, Brazil, and Mexico. More to come with places such as Turkey, Korea, Australia, America, some repeats and more! This collection has really wonderful to me because it combines my love of couture dresses with the bible of fashion- Vogue. Fashion publications are one of my favorite aspects of the fashion industry and one day I hope to work/intern at one. Flip through them all & let me know which one is your favorite if you want. xo <3
May
These photos were taken of me by my roommate for her photo project. Check out her flickr, she's awesome. Today I have two finals and a paper to write and I am done with my freshman year of college. This year really did go by so fast. Then I am going out into the "real world" and working. My roommate for next year is also on the right in the top right picture. We're going to be living in an apartment with 3 other girls, which will be a nice change from dorm style living. I bought a lot of new clothes for work, so hopefully I can put pics up later of some of my outfits this summer! xo

Paper Lashes
I just found out about cut paper lashes when looking for feather lashes on Sephora.com. I am so in love right now. I wore fake lashes for the first time at the fashion show and thought that decorative lashes would be a cool summer photo shoot idea. xoxo
La Belle Fleur
I have really been inspired by flowers and floral prints lately. I think it has to do with the fact I am in a spring mood. However, this snowstorm really messed me up and confused all of the flowers. This gorgeous dress is from my love Elie Saab. I usually don't wear a lot of pink or florals right now. Most of my clothes are black, blue, or grey. I want to revamp my entire closet this summer with a classic/trendy versatile wardrobe. I have clothes in there from the 8th grade and I am finishing my freshman year of college. So, SPRING CLEANING AHOY! xo

Hello Loves! Sorry I have not been able to post for a while. Next week is finals, so right now is crunch time. Saturday I was in the fashion show at my college and Sunday I had orientation for work. Here are some pictures of me from the show! Enjoy!

Junk of the Heart
I hope all of you are having as great a day as I am. Today I found out that I got the job at TJMAxx! Also, our professor liked our Marketing presentation. And most exciting is that May 27 I am going to be seeing my favorite band, The Kooks, with my best friend!!! I have been swarmed with work lately, but this summer I want to start taking pictures of my outfits as a summer project and then posting them on here for you guys. xo

Happy Easter
This Givenchy dress is the perfect dress for spring. The print is in the color of the season, orange, as a graphic floral. The orange pops against a complementary light blue background. I love how modest the cut is so that none of the pattern is obscured by a low neckline or super short skirt. I hope you all had a nice time this weekend! xo

A Dose of Norman Norell
Norman Norell: Evening Suit, 1963-65
I am enticing you to read this post with a picture of a gorgeous Norman Norell dress. Sadly, my life has been consumed with finishing projects- which includes my fashion designers paper about Norman Norell and Karl Lagerfeld. I get to go home Friday though because Saturday is my b-day and I will hopefully get an interview Monday morning for TJMAxx. For a small dose of Fashion History, Norman Norell was the first great couture designer in America making beautiful Ready-to-Wear during the world wars and the sixties. One of the many designs he was famous for were fully sequined "mermaid" gowns that were made to look like glimmering fish scales. So when you see something fully sequined or beaded, think of Norman Norell.
And if any of you do time on your hands, feel free to check out my Tumblr blogs!

"18th Century Cosmo"
I saw this when I was on memebase............ when I obviously should be studying. I found this fake Cosmopolitan magazine amusing since I was working on my fashion history homework earlier. Then of course, I had to inspect the image- making a mental inventory of what I saw: bell sleeves, rounded neckline, chemise, and so on. I find the "101 Ways to Drop A Handkerchief" very amusing because it reminds of when in Pride and Prejudice Lydia tries to drop her handkerchief in order for an officer to pick it up for her and later asks Lizzie if she dropped hers on purpose too when Wickham picks her handkerchief off the ground. My magazines of choice are Vogue, Instyle, and Glamour because of the amount of fashion content and beautiful spreads. I also like to look at all off the ads that fill up the pages to see what's trending in fashion, marketing, or to be jealous that I can't afford anything.

Lost in a Fashion Fairytale
This is the theme of our fashion show this year at our college. I am modeling in the Hansel & Gretel and Red Riding Hood segments. This is my interpretation of how I see each of the sections. Fashion show playlist below:
Goldilocks: Paganini Rocks- Robortom ft. Au Revoir Simone
Hansel & Gretel: The Truth is in the Dirt- Karen Elson
Snow White: Requiem for a Dream (Lux Aeterna)- Hans Zimmer
Sleeping Beauty: Our Time- Amanda Jenssen
Red Riding Hood: Unbreakable- Fireflight

April
Happy April! (& April Fools Day)... which means I should be on alert. I am really into the mint green and light blue-green color right now. I find it really fresh and rejuvenating. One thing that I would really like is a black leather jacket. I think they're really versatile and stylish. And that's a picture of me in my natural state, wrapped in a blanket.
Pride and Prejudice
Sorry for not posting in a while. I have been so busy with school. To day I wanted to pay homage to my favorite book/movie of all time, Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen is one of the greatest authors to ever walk the face of the Earth. Her keen eye of wit and romance shall hopefully never go unnoticed. I tried in this one to image what their wedding might have been like with a few modern elements. I adore the Alexander McQueen dress that Pippa Middleton wore for her sister's wedding. I think it would have been a simple and elegant choice of gown for Lizzie. xo

Maxxinista
I interrupt your professional blogging experience with this awful webcam photo post about how obsessed I am with TJMaxx. I went this evening with no intention of buying anything and came back with a blue oversized Nine West clutch for $20 and nude Kelsi Dagger pumps for $40. I was planning on getting a job at the new TJMaxx opening in my hometown, but I will probably just buy out the store. Good thing I had my $25 gift card to help me today. College student problems. I am hoping that maybe I can wear the shoes in the fashion show (and not die, that's always a plus). Now I have to go back to writing a Sociology paper.

Flashbacks
I'm going to rewind back to the beginning of the school year. My roommate and I found this awesome nail tutorial (link below) and this was the result. Trust me, it was way more awesome in person!

And finally, I have developed a love of lipstick. My current favorite is L'Oreal Paris 138 Forever Fuchsia. I am still looking for a great red with a blue undertone. If any of you know of one, let me know!
xo, Justine
I found this amusing...
You know that I love Downton Abbey, so when I saw this featured on People.com I felt the need to share.

Dolce & Gabbana
I am in love with some of the things Dolce & Gabbana has been doing. Their collection of jeweled corsets and sparkling mini skirts is something to behold. While larger gems on a garments can sometimes look tacky, they artfully mastered them into a work of art. Each piece is intricate and interesting. They also have lots of fun colors. The mixing of blacks and metallics with jewel tones and primary colors is something that can easily be translated into regular dress, such as colorful bangles, flats, and sequined shorts and skirts, along with a playful print bag can liven up a regular outfit.

London Calling
For all of you who probably don't know, I am obsessed with British things. Union Jack, Jane Austen, BBC shows, Harry Potter, Burberry, London, British accents... you get my point. Hopefully in 3 semesters I will be studying abroad in Canterbury, England! That would be a wonderful experience. I would love to go back to Europe. Where in the world would you all love to go?
